PV Sindhu thanked the Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his felicitation after creating history by becoming the first Indian to win the Japan Open. The two-time Olympic medalist defeated Japan’s Akane Yamaguchi 21-17, 21-17 in the women’s singles final to end her two-year wait for a BWF World Tour title and her seven-year drought for a Super 750 or higher crown.Responding to the Prime Minister’s message to Xu, Sindhu expressed her gratitude and recalled some of her fondest memories from their meetings after the Tokyo Olympics.“Thank you very much, Honorable Prime Minister. I wish you many, many years of good health and strength sir,” she saidSindhu’s run of titles in Tokyo included victories over Olympic champion Chen Yu Fei and world No.5 Han Yue before she defeated four-time champion Yamaguchi in straight games to lift the prestigious Japan Open trophy.
