Hero MotoCorp’s upcoming adventure motorcycle has been spotted on public roads again. The latest test mule was spotted in Ladakh. The motorcycle, which is expected to be called the Xpulse 421, was spotted undergoing high-altitude testing in the Himalayan region.While the bike remains heavily camouflaged, a few key details are visible. The front end features a rally-inspired design with a tall windshield and a high-mounted LED headlight integrated into the sharply integrated fairing. The fuel tank and seat design also hint at its adventurous intent. Compared to the large front part, the back half looks relatively thin.Suspension duties will likely be handled by long-travel USD front forks and a rear monoshock setup. While exact specifications remain under wraps, some level of suspension tuning is expected, potentially including compression and rebound adjustment at the front and preload adjustment at the rear.The test bike appears to ride on a 21-inch front wheel and an 18-inch rear wheel wrapped in dual-purpose wheels. It remains to be seen whether Hero will opt for tubeless tires or conventional tubular setups. Brakes are expected to come from a front disc with radially mounted calipers and a rear disc setup backed by dual-channel ABS.Powering the upcoming adventure motorcycle will be an all-new liquid-cooled, single-cylinder 421cc engine. Hero MotoCorp is yet to reveal the official output figures, but the engine is expected to produce around 40bhp, putting it in direct competition with the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and KTM 390 Adventure. Most likely, the engine will be mated to a six-speed gearbox.The latest prototype also reveals a digital instrument console, likely to be a TFT display with smartphone connectivity. Features such as turn-by-turn navigation, call and SMS alerts are expected. Hero is likely to equip the motorcycle with a range of electronic rider aids, including riding modes, traction control, cruise control and switchable ABS. Although the company has not announced an official release schedule, ongoing testing in extreme conditions suggests that the motorcycle is steadily moving closer to production. We can expect a global showcase at EICMA later this year, followed by an India launch in 2027.
