India’s disappointing tour of the UK continued to unravel on the field, but the latest ICC Men’s T20I Rankings provided a rare silver lining, with Ishan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma holding the top two batting spots despite the team’s struggles against Ireland and England.India’s white-ball campaign suffered a miserable run, starting with a 2-0 series loss to Ireland before Shreyas Iyer’s side lost 2-0 against England in the ongoing five-match T20I series after the first game was washed out. England’s emphatic 125-run victory in the third T20I was also recorded as India’s heaviest defeat in the format.Yet even amid the setbacks, India’s premier T20I batsmen continue to dominate the global rankings.

Ishan, Abhishek remain on top despite India’s slump

The latest ICC rankings confirmed that Ishan Kishan remains the world’s No.1 T20I batsman, while his teammate Abhishek Sharma retained the No.2 position.There was another positive for India in the form of new T20I captain Shreyas Iyer, who enjoyed one of the biggest bounces of the week. After scoring 68 in the rain-soaked opener against England and following it up with 37 in the second T20I, Iyer has moved up a whopping 425 places to 93rd in the batsmen’s rankings.England, meanwhile, were richly rewarded for their commanding performances.Jacob Bethell climbed seven places to No.8 after his unbeaten 76 off 46 balls helped England secure victory in the second T20I.Sam Curran he also enjoyed a productive week, climbing 12 places to No.108 among the batsmen after contributing an unbeaten 41 and moving up 12 places to joint 71st in the bowling rankings following figures of 3/33. His all-round exploits also moved him up six places to 13th among T20I all-rounders.

England’s stars are on the rise after a dominant run

Veteran leg-spinner Adil Rashid is back in the top three of the T20I bowling rankings after moving up one place to No.3 thanks to his stingy figures of 2/14 in England’s record win.Almost a shot putter Josh Tongue also entered the rankings at joint-301 after taking four wickets in just his second T20I appearance, while Will Jacks broke into the top 10 among T20I all-rounders, climbing six places to No.7.
