New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) may have to work overtime to get the support staff for the Indian team in order after the conclusion of the ongoing tour of England. TOI understands that assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate and a fast bowling coach Morne Morkel are considering moving on from their roles after their contracts expire after the ODI series in England this month. “Doeschate is not very sure about continuing with this job. He has conveyed his travel issues with the team throughout the year. Morkel is still weighing his options. The board is discussing it with the two coaches and will try to see if things can be worked out,” a BCCI source told TOI. The Indian team is scheduled to leave for Sri Lanka for a two-Test series in the first week of August. Head of Cricket at the Center of Excellence (CoE) VVS Laxman will take his CoE coaching staff with him to India’s three-match T20I series in Zimbabwe in the last week of July. Sources said Doeschate may be in talks with an IPL franchise, while Morkel is yet to say anything firm. Head coach Gautam Gambhir he hand-picked these two coaches when he took charge in July 2024. BCCI has always supported the support staff coming through its CoE coaching programme. Last year, Abhishek Nayar he replaced Sitansha Kotak as batting coach. If things are not sorted out with Doeschate and Morkel, the BCCI may be forced to send Lakshmipathy Balaji, who was recently appointed as the CoE fast bowling coach, to Sri Lanka. Field coach under fire TOI has also learned that outside coach T Dilip is under pressure to save his job. The management board is not satisfied with the deteriorating standards of the team on the field. Dilip got a reprieve last year after he was fired along with Nayar.
