A few years ago, Adam McKay and Will Ferrell were the industry’s most iconic comedy duo; However, after the debacle in 2019, the two never worked together again. However, after a few years, McKay is looking forward to reuniting with the actor again. Here’s what he had to share.
Adam McKay says he wants to work with Will Ferrell again
During a conversation with Business Insider, Adam McKay admitted that he misses working with Ferrell. When asked if he would like to work with him again, the filmmaker happily admitted that he had floated the idea for quite some time.“We’ve always been great, we’ve been great creative partners. The only thing that caused us conflict was when we decided to end our production company, Gary Sanchez. And I know it was reported one way or another, but it really was”, she admits, also offering insight into why they stopped working together in the first place.“It’s a shame because we had a great creative partnership. I think we both underestimated the complexities that go with not just having a company, but a very successful company,” he said, adding that the two had worked on many projects under their company’s banner and had a flow with each other.

McKay revealed that Ferrell wasn’t someone who didn’t want to create content entirely, and that after a point, it became too much work. He added, “I was really someone who wanted to produce, but the life of a movie star is very different from the life of a writer-director. So we parted ways. But life goes on. We had a great run. I definitely have no hard feelings and who knows, we’ll see what happens.” He also concluded that the company was never something Ferrell was passionate about.
