ETimes review for ‘Con City’

ETimes rated Con City 3 out of 5 stars. The review said, “Give Harish Durairaj this much: for a debut, he transcends the cookie-cutter template, crafting a multi-stranded con story with a family pulse rather than the usual hero heroics. None of this comes of it, and the film plays sharp for 15-20 minutes from its baggier stretches.” Performers cover a lot. Arjun Das plays softer and warmer than his recent intense run, and the Yogi Babu and Vadivukkarasi duo act is the most reliable source of fun. Sean Roldan’s songs are a real plus and his background score works solidly, while Arvind Viswanathan’s camerawork is effective. There’s nothing here you haven’t seen, but the cast smoothes out the familiar. Con City is happy to have a decent hang and you can be too.”
