Former English spinner Graeme Swann showered with praise Ishan Kishan after the wicketkeeper-batsman’s sensational century led India to a dominant 170-run win over Afghanistan in the second ODI in Lucknow, sealing the three-match series with a match to spare.Kishan played an incredible knock of 125 from just 79 balls, hitting 14 boundaries and seven sixes. His innings formed the backbone of a mammoth 224-run third-wicket haul with the India captain Shubman Gillwhich produced a splendid 154. Their partnership helped India pile up 402 before restricting Afghanistan to 232.Speaking on JioStar, Swann admired Kishan’s team attitude and his ability to seamlessly fit into any role required by the side.“He’s the kind of player who will do any job you ask of him without any complaints. The fact that he’s back in the team and looks like he’s never been out of the team is remarkable,” Swann said. The former England player also highlighted the way Kishan was going about his innings before the dramatic change of gears. According to Swann, the left-hander has shown excellent awareness of the game rather than relying on reckless play.“He came to the crease and was careful for his first fifty, but then it took just 19 deliveries to go from 50 to 100, which is ridiculous. It wasn’t crazy hitting or flailing. He was just sensitive, picking his spots on the leg side, making the bowlers change their lines and then playing those beautiful high, extra-cover charges.”Swann felt that Kishan’s transformation reflected the hard work he had put into improving certain areas of his batting.“That’s a sign of pure class. That shot, wide or long, is something he’s worked on for the last two years. It was an area where pitchers could have stopped him, but he went and worked on it and turned it into power, which is brilliant,” he added.Kishan brought up his hundred in just 71 deliveries and ensured that India’s momentum never slowed down. Along with Gill, he dismantled Afghanistan’s bowling attack to post one of India’s highest ODI totals in recent years.India then completed a comprehensive victory as Arshdeep Singh and Gurnoor Brar picked up three wickets each. Rahmat Shah fought hard with 79 but Afghanistan were eventually bowled out for 232, giving India an unassailable 2-0 lead ahead of the final ODI in Chennai.
