Skoda has introduced a new flagship electric SUV model, the Peaq. At the top of the brand’s EV range, the three-row electric SUV is set to compete with premium family-oriented electric models such as the Kia EV9, Hyundai Ioniq 9 and Volvo EX90 in global markets.
Skoda Peak : Design and dimensions
Built on the Volkswagen Group’s MEB+ electric vehicle platform, the Peaq measures 4,874 mm in length, 1,867 mm in width and 1,664 mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,965 mm. With all seats in place, it offers 299 liters of luggage space. Folding the third row expands the boot to 935 litres, while an additional 37-litre front boot adds extra storage space. The Summit follows Skoda’s latest Modern Solid design philosophy. Up front, the SUV gets a gloss black enclosed ‘Tech Deck’ panel instead of the traditional grille, flanked by T-shaped Matrix LED headlamps and full-width lighting signature. Functional air vents have also been incorporated into the bumper to help cool the car’s electrical components. At the rear, the SUV gets T-shaped LED taillights, dual-tone bumper, roof-mounted spoiler and shark fin antenna. Soft door handles and aerodynamic alloy wheels are also part of the package.
Skoda Peak: Cabin and features
Inside, the Peak has a 13.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10-inch digital instrument cluster and a heated two-spoke steering wheel bearing the Skoda badge. Other features include a panoramic sunroof, dual wireless smartphone chargers, USB charging ports in all three rows and a 16-speaker Sonos audio system. Skoda has also for the first time introduced a digital key function that allows owners to lock and unlock the car using a smartphone or smartwatch. Higher-end versions can additionally be equipped with a head-up display, massaging front seats with electrically adjustable footrests and folding tables for rear passengers.
Skoda Peak: Powertrain
Skoda will present the Peak in three variants. The entry-level Peaq 60 uses a 63kWh battery pack paired with a rear-mounted electric motor that produces 204bhp. This version provides a claimed driving range of 459 km and can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 8.6 seconds. The mid-range Peaq 90 features a larger 91kWh battery pack and a more powerful rear-mounted engine producing 286bhp. It offers the highest claimed range in the lineup at 647 km and completes the 0-100 km/h sprint in 7.1 seconds. At the top of the range sits the Peaq 90x, which combines a 91kWh battery with dual-motor all-wheel drive. The system produces 299 horsepower and helps the SUV accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 6.7 seconds. It provides a claimed range of 613 km. All variants support fast charging, with the Peak able to accept DC charging speeds of up to 199 kW.
