An Austrian man is reportedly facing the possible death penalty in Saudi Arabia for his involvement in the failed terror plot to target Taylor Swift’s Vienna concert. According to the latest reports, the 21-year-old is currently on trial and serving a death sentence for a separate alleged terror attack.The 21-year-old suspect, identified only as Hasan E. under Austria’s strict privacy laws, is accused of carrying out a stabbing attack in the Saudi city of Mecca in March 2024, the Daily Mail reported. He was later linked to a larger extremist network that authorities believe included those involved in the planned attack on Taylor Swift’s Eras tour concert in Vienna. During the trial, the Saudi Arabian court heard evidence related to Hasan E’s alleged links to the terrorist cell behind the failed August 2024 concert attack in Austria.According to the report, investigators allege that Hassan e conspired with Beran A, who was later convicted for his role in the Vienna concert plot, and Arda K, another alleged member of the extremist network. Beran was later sentenced to 15 years in prison for his involvement in a planned concert attack, which would have resulted in mass casualties.Authorities also allege that Hasan E had a close relationship with Beran A and was a ‘former schoolmate’ and ‘jihadi mentor’.Arda was not charged with taking part in the Vienna concert plot, but was sentenced to 12 years in prison for his role in an alleged jihadist cell.According to prosecutors, the group discussed carrying out coordinated attacks in multiple locations, including Istanbul and Dubai. However, those plans were reportedly abandoned before implementation.Reports indicate that Hasan E has repeatedly requested extradition to Austria while awaiting trial in Saudi Arabia. But that effort reportedly failed.Judgment against Hasan E is due tomorrow. If convicted, he could face the death penalty.
