congressional leaders Rahul Gandhi On Wednesday, he claimed that families across India spent the same amount of money on him NEET preparation The center, which spends its entire education budget, called the figure “insulting” and “criminal”.Addressing students at a rally at Chhatron Ki Goonj in Kota, Rahul said that around 22 lakh students appear for medical examination every year and their families spend a total of nearly Rs 132 crore on preparation.“Among NEET, 2.2 million students appear for the examination. Rs 132 crore is extracted from the pockets of 2.2 million families. With the money donated by these 2.2 million people every year, the Indian government spends the same amount in the entire education budget,” he said.Gandhi extended his argument to other major competitive examinations through his speech. Mentioning SSC, UPSC, RRB, JEE and NEET, he claimed that families spent a total of around Rs 350 crore on these five examinations.“Look at the money for these five exams. Rs 350 crore has been taken out of your pockets. Rs 350 crore has been taken out of the pockets of your families,” he said.He further claimed that the money came from family savings, loans and sacrifices made by parents to ensure a better future for their children.“Rs 350 crore was withdrawn from loans. Rs 350 crore was withdrawn from pain and sorrow,” Rahul said.The Congress leader claimed that households spend as much on these five exams as the government spends on several ministries.“The money taken from your family in these five exams, the Indian government spends the same amount in the entire education budget, health budget, labor budget, science budget, women and children budget,” he said.Rahul later shared his remarks on social media, calling India’s education system “nothing more than an extortion mechanism.” He said families across the country were spending an amount equivalent to the government’s education budget on NEET preparation alone, and claimed students felt they were being systematically unfairly treated.
