After rising to fame with the ‘Harry Potter’ franchise and starring in several other films, Emma Watson has largely stayed out of the public eye. The actress mostly stays away from her social media accounts and prefers to avoid the paparazzi. However, in a recent turn of events, the star attended a public event alongside other celebrities including Benedict Cumberbatch and Prince William.

Emma Watson, People reports, attended the Royal Foundation’s United for Wildlife business forum. The event held on Monday was attended by people from various groups. At the forum, Watson was one of many invited to the stage to speak on the topic at hand.United for Wildlife also shared photos from the evening on their Instagram page, including glimpses of Watson alongside ‘The Roses’ actor and Prince William. The post’s caption read that the event was a “conversation about the natural world and our shared responsibility to protect it.”Watson gave a speech after being invited on stage at the event. “Storytelling is really powerful, and the story you tell as a brand, and the transparency you have and the way you talk about these things, is important. It’s important to young people,” he said. A video of her speech, as well as speeches by Prince William and Benedict Cumberbatch, were also shared on the same account. The actress posted about the incident on her account. Sharing a photo of the event, she wrote, “Wildlife trafficking is the tip of a highly exploitative iceberg. It can be the canary in the coal mine for an industry that causes enormous harm to both people and the planet (but has the potential to make a tremendous impact)!”

Emma Watson mistook the paparazzi for being there for her

The actress also recalled a funny incident during her speech when she thought many people with cameras were waiting for her near her residence. She said, “And I thought, ‘Today is the day. It happened, oh my goodness.’ so, [someone] Went out to address them and their long lenses and I ran to go the other way, and it turned out that the long lens men weren’t actually on my side. They were there for a very rare bird, called the Red Kite. And they were, basically, trying to get into my back garden because they thought one of these red kites was in our backyard.”Over the years, Watson has consistently pursued philanthropic efforts and used her voice to provide a platform to those in need.
