Salman Khan was ‘blown away’ by the script
According to a report in Bollywood Hungama, Salman Khan heard the script and was immediately on board. The superstar will reportedly portray one of the most famous figures in Indian history and is expected to undergo a significant physical transformation for the role. Describing the film as a true passion project for all involved, Salman feels that the character perfectly suits his larger-than-life screen presence.This will mark the first collaboration between Salman Khan and both ‘Rong De Basanti’ and ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’, and director Rakesh Omprakash Mehra of Excel Entertainment fame. Discussions are currently ongoing; The shooting dates and remuneration are still being finalised.
Salman Khan’s packed lineup ahead of the period film
Before this period story takes shape, Salman Khan has a packed slate of releases and productions to work on.Her next theatrical outing is ‘Matrubhumi: May War Rest In Peace’, directed by Apoorva Lakhia, hitting theaters on August 14, 2026 with Chitrangada Singh. The film faced multiple delays before its release.Simultaneously, Salman Khan is currently shooting for SVC63, a high-octane action entertainer directed by Banshi Paidipalli and produced by Dil Raju under Sri Venkateswara Creations. The film stars Nayanthara, marks her first collaboration with Salman, and is targeting an Eid 2027 release, with filming expected to wrap up by August or September 2026.
Salman Khan’s first superhero film
Adding more excitement to his lineup, Salman Khan is also set to explore the superhero genre for the first time. He is teaming up with famed creative duo Raj Nidimoru and Krishna DK, ‘The Family Man’ and ‘Fargie’ for a big scale superhero comedy. The project is being produced by Atul Agnihotri, with Mithri Movie Makers reportedly in talks to come on board as a studio partner.
When will the period film go on floors?
If all goes well, Rakesh Omprakash Mehra is expected to start shooting for the period film by the summer of 2027, right after Salman Khan wraps up the Raj and DK superhero project, which could turn out to be one of the most eagerly awaited films of his career.
