The live session mainly revolved around the film’s abrupt withdrawal, but it also gave the actor-singer a chance to respond with characteristic humor to a fan’s suggestion to get a green card.

While interacting with the audience during the session, one fan commented, “Paji green card le lo.” Reacting with humor, Diljit replied, “I’ll take a card and paint green. I’m not saying anything. Sab chodke ye news ban jaegi. (Apart from everything, this will become news) It can’t happen, it’ll never happen. The drama of the world will never end, but all I’m saying… should not be allowed in any country.” The whole world must be united. I’m fine, but that’s not possible, is it?”Rumors of the singer already holding a green card have periodically circulated online and Diljit’s tongue-in-cheek response has directly contributed to that recurring speculation.

During the live session, Diljit expressed his gratitude to everyone who watched the film despite its short window of online availability. “I came live on Instagram to thank people for watching Satluj,” he said.Explaining the timing behind the quiet release of the film, the ‘Surma’ singer added, “What I feared has actually happened. I thought the film would be taken off by Monday, but it was earlier than expected. So we didn’t promote the film. It was best to release the film (online) without any promotion. Today’s youth is talking about Khalra Singh Khalra Singh.“The actor also affirmed his bond with his home state, saying, “You can make me suffer as much as you want. I am with Punjab till the day I die.”Diljit said he was relieved viewers were able to see the image before it was removed and encouraged those who had already downloaded it to pass it on. He said:“But I am happy and relieved that the film has finally reached the audience. Many have already downloaded it. Once something lands online, it never gets deleted. I saw a video from Rajasthan where people are watching the film; I feel very happy. Please show it to your friends and everyone around you.”

Talking about the story behind ‘Satuluj’, Diljit Dosanjh explained that the film is based on one of the darkest chapters in Punjab in the 1990s, when civilians went missing and were cremated without informing their families. He said, “The incident happened in 1995 and they didn’t let people talk about it then. It’s happening even today. Haad ho gei! (It’s too much!) I’m a bit sad. We’re still standing there, it’s 2026.”“Diljit also opened up about the year-long struggle to bring the film to the audience, revealing, “Our shooting was off for 10-15 years. It took us 1.5 years to start the film. After editing, the film was stuck for four years. I was with the film for two years; Honey Paaji gave the film six years.”
Why was ‘Satuluj’ removed from ZEE5?
Originally titled ‘Punjab 95’, the film was submitted to the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) in 2022 but did not receive a clearance. The filmmakers had earlier claimed that the CBFC wanted as many as 127 cuts. The film was also scheduled to premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in 2023, but that screening was reportedly canceled after objections were raised by Indian authorities.On July 3, ‘Satluj’ quietly premiered on ZEE5 without any promotional campaign. Despite receiving a positive response from critics and audiences, the film was pulled from platforms in just two days.In a statement issued after the takedown, the OTT platform said it stands by the film. Without revealing the specific reasons behind the decision, the streamer said that “in light of current developments” the film is currently unavailable for streaming.
