During the break from the convention, the word ‘Intermission’ appears on the screen and immediately Akshay Kumar appears with popcorn in hand and directly addresses the audience. In a hilarious moment, he explains that the makers shot a segment for the film but didn’t know exactly where to place it, so they decided to screen it after the break slate. This was followed by the song ‘Kyun’ starring Akshay Kumar and Disha Patani.
How was the audience reaction?
The initiative received a huge response. According to a Bollywood Hungama report, “It seems to have been an experiment that worked. The paid preview of the film was yesterday, June 25, from 7:30 pm, and the response to the initiative was positive. It generated a lot of laughs. Many viewers, who rushed to the washroom or had snacks after hearing Kumar’s message, immediately dropped in. The visuals of the song and then exited.”
How did you keep the surprise of the movie intact?
The experience was carefully orchestrated. The report added, “It seems that the cinema halls were instructed by the distributors not to turn on the lights when the interval slate was displayed on the screen and even when the play ‘Cune’ was shown. As a result, the surprise was preserved and the audience got to experience the sequence as the makers intended.”
