the actor Kiran Abbavaram reacted after facing criticism online comparing his Telugu film ‘K-Ramp’ with Hollywood film ‘Obsession’. Kiran made the comments during a recent podcast appearance.Several users interpreted the actor’s comment as an attempt to compare the two films. Others felt he was claiming that K-Ramp and Obsession were similar in more ways than one.
Kiran Abbavaram said his comments were misunderstood
Kiran first spoke about the obsession while appearing on the Chari Not Sorry podcast. During the conversation, he joked that several of his friends told him that the Hollywood film reminded them of ‘K-Ramp’ because of the similar storyline. While promoting his upcoming film ‘Chennai Love Story’, Kiran explained that he only mentioned a general plot point and did not want to compare the two films as complete works. As quoted by Hindustan Times, Kiran said, “I don’t know why they are turning it into something negative. I just said during a fun conversation that some of my friends watched Obsession and told me that it has the same plot point as K-Ramp. I mentioned it there. I don’t know why they took it like that. Because what’s wrong, this particular point was similar to both of me.”The actor also clarified that he has immense respect for ‘Obsession’ and acknowledged its global popularity. According to Kiran, his comments were made lightly and were not intended to undermine the Hollywood film.Kiran said, “Obsession is a bigger hit than ‘K-Ramp’; it has a universal reach. I have a lot of respect for it and I was joking. I feel like I said it in a stream; they won’t see it. When it’s written about, the impression is created that I said K-Ramp is better than Obsession. I didn’t say what I actually said.” I respect other films more than my films; I will never denigrate someone else’s film.“
