Prakash Raj and Pa Ranjit show support for Sonam Wangchuk’s protest at Yantar Mantra

Some stars from the film fraternity expressed their support for the protest at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar. Among some of the stars of the South Indian film industry, actor Prakh Raj has been very vocal on the issue. She has been sharing her support through social media posts and has even reached out at times.In one of his posts, Prakash Raj Wrote, “The world is witnessing a cowardly government that doesn’t want to engage in dialogue with the youth but wants to act like dictators. Forcefully removing @Wangchuk66 and preventing peaceful student protests is a sign of fear.”Later, worker and academic Dr Sonam Wangchuk Inspired by the police authorities, the actor shared another post which read, “Parde ke piche kya hai, chappan inchi ka dara hua nangapan. What’s behind the scenes. 56 inches of shivering nudity #justasking.”

Actor’s reaction after visiting the protest site

The ‘Singham’ actor later reached Jantar Mantar to support the protest led by the youth-led Telapoka Janata Party (CJP). Sharing a video from the protest site, she wrote, “The youth of our country are #justasking.”During the rally, thousands of Telapoka Janata Party supporters marched in Delhi demanding the resignation of the Union Education Minister. Later reports indicated that police stopped the march with barricades and clashes broke out when protesters tried to move on. A few protesters also claimed to have been injured during the lathicharge.After witnessing the situation, Prakash Raj shared another video and wrote, “Witnessed the brutality of authoritarian rule on the youth of my country. Shocked.. and deeply disturbed. Tanashahi na Chalgi. Country has woken up. This is just the beginning.”On the other hand, on July 19, filmmaker Pa Ranjith also shared his support for Sonam Wangchuk and the protesters. Wangchuk shared a lengthy message on social media after he was shifted to hospital during his 21-day fast at Yantar Mantar.

So Ranjit increases cohesion

In his statement, Pa Ranjith wrote on his X handle, “#SonamWangchuk, #Cockroaches in solidarity with every protester in Janata Party & #JanataRmantar.”He also wrote, “Condemnation against state intervention in peaceful protests at Jantar Mantar. The use of force against protesters, the arrest of sympathizers and the decision to hospitalize inventor and activist Sonam Wangchuk during her 21-day hunger strike are deeply disturbing.”Talking about the reason behind the protest, he added, “Sonam Wangchuk’s struggle reflects the anger, anxiety and uncertainty that millions of youth across the country are forced to endure. Allegations of repeated paper leaks, failures in the examination system and absence of accountability have put the dreams and futures of countless students at risk.”

Call for accountability

So Ranjith also said that the concerns of students and protesters should be resolved through dialogue rather than force. “Instead of responding to these concerns, the government has chosen to suppress peaceful democratic dissent,” he wrote.He added, “With the future of the nation at stake, the Union Education Minister and the BJP-led Central Government have the responsibility to respond with accountability, not force.”The ‘Thangalan’ director also expressed his support for the protest march participants.
