Prince Harry, Meghan, Prince Archie, now seven, and Princess Lilibet, are scheduled to travel to the UK between July 6 and 10 to attend engagements in Birmingham and London linked to next year’s Invictus Games. The family will be accommodated in a royal palace during their stay, marking a significant transition six years after their departure to North America.
Palace accommodation options are under consideration for the Sussex family
Buckingham Palace has emerged as a leading candidate to house visiting families, with sources describing it as “Britain’s most secure building”. The property is undergoing extensive renovations while maintaining round-the-clock protection from security personnel. As well as Frogmore Cottage, Windsor Castle and St James’s Palace – the residence the couple occupied before their transatlantic move – have also been suggested as alternatives.

It has remained vacant since the king evicted the Sussexes from the property in 2022. For the Duchess, it will mark her first return to British soil since Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral in September 2022. There is understood to be a deal to ensure the King spends time with Archie and Lilibet during the visit.

The younger royals, who are sixth and seventh in line to the throne, have been kept away from Britain since Harry lost his full-time security following the couple’s 2020 departure. It remains unclear whether Meghan will be accompanied by her husband and children when she meets the king. The arrangement signals a meaningful progression in the relationship between Charles and his younger grandchildren, who have largely grown up outside the UK.
