Posting a photo of Wangchuk on Instagram, the actor said his thoughts were with him as he continued his hunger strike in the national capital.Citing reports about his deteriorating health, Aman made his own plea for dialogue with the government. “My thoughts are with the nation’s capital city today where @wangchuksworld enters the 17th day of his indefinite hunger strike.”He also cited reports that Wangchuck’s condition worsened and recalled his reaction when people urged him to end the fast. “Don’t ask me to end my hunger strike. Ask the government why they won’t even have a dialogue.”

In his post, Aman described Sonam Wangchuk as the founder of SECMOL, creator of the Ice Stupa initiative, an education reformer in Ladakh and a committed environmental activist. He also mentioned that Wangchuk inspired the character of Phunsukh Wangdu portrayed by Aamir Khan in ‘3 Idiots’, while he received worldwide recognition for his work.

Calling for constructive engagement, the veteran actress urged the government to meet her request and hold talks with Wangchuck.“With respect to Mr. Wangchuk’s wishes, I urge the Government of India to discuss this issue which concerns the future of all of India. We should not become a society that sits back and watches one of its greatest minds be sacrificed. India has a long history of peaceful protests; those in power are bound to meet such protests with peaceful dialogue.”Concluding his note, the veteran actor wrote: “My respect and best wishes to all.”Zeenat Aman joins a growing list of people who have spoken out about Wangchuk’s protests. About the protest
According to the Telapoka Janata Party (CJP), which is spearheading the movement, Wangchuck has reportedly lost around 9kg since starting his indefinite fast. The protests, which began on June 20, revolved around allegations of irregularities in the NEET examination. Wangchuck joined the protest on June 28.The organization has demanded the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and demanded compensation of Rs 1 crore for the families of NEET examinees who allegedly committed suicide following the examination controversy. The CJP has announced a peaceful march to Parliament to coincide with the opening day of the monsoon session on July 20.
