Salman Khan had appealed against the makers of ‘Kaala Hiran’ claiming that the film violated his personality rights. A hearing for the same was scheduled on June 19 and as per the latest update, Delhi High Court The hearing was adjourned on Friday. The adjournment came after lawyers representing the filmmakers requested additional time to file their response.The matter was heard by the vacation bench of Justice Madhu Jain. According to ANI, senior advocate Sandeep Shetty, representing Salman Khan, requested the court to grant immediate interim relief, arguing that the filmmakers were illegally using the actor’s life story and public image for commercial gain without his approval.“He is making a film on my life and tearing the notice. He has no right to make a film on my life. I am seeking an interim injunction. The teaser is already out,” Sethi told the court.Counsel for the filmmakers sought time to file a formal reply, saying a copy of the petition was received on Wednesday. Opposing the request, Sethi maintained that the respondents had already been served and proof of service had been filed in court.During the trial, the filmmakers’ lawyer also informed the court that he had received death threats and registered an FIR in this regard.Shetty also argued that promotional material associated with the film had already been released and the makers could not continue to use Khan’s identity and persona without consent. The filmmakers opposed the interim order to stop the project.After hearing both sides, the court noted that the producer and director had recently received the complete application form. It directed Salman Khan’s legal team to provide all relevant documents to the respondents and listed the matter before the roster bench on July 1.The dispute stems from Khan’s claim that ‘Kaala Hiran: War of Succession’ violates his personality and publicity rights and also damages his reputation. Earlier, the High Court had issued a notice in this regard after stating that the film’s trailer had been released despite earlier indications that it would be unveiled on June 20.According to Khan’s plea, the film and its promotional campaign are inspired by the events surrounding the 1998 blackbuck poaching incident. Although the actor is not explicitly named, he argues that posters, promotional material and statements made by those involved in the project make it clear that the character is meant to represent him.The petition specifically points to a poster released in May 2026, which allegedly features a character resembling Khan and wearing a bracelet similar to his iconic blue bracelet. It also claimed that despite Khan’s acquittal in the Arms Act case, the character was shown carrying a firearm, which he described as a misleading image.Khan also argued that parts of the film refer to legal issues that are still pending in the High Court. According to the petition, circulation of such content could affect the ongoing proceedings and affect his right to fair trial.The petition cites additional interviews, social media posts and public comments by producer Amit Jani alleging the film was linked to the blackbuck case and gangsters.
