Ahead of its June 26 theatrical release, Ahmed Khan’s comedy entertainer ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ has received certification from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). However, the image was cleared only after a series of edits and changes were implemented. The board reportedly suggested 18 changes, ranging from changing dialogue to removing certain visuals and references.The latest installment of the popular ‘Welcome’ franchise has now been certified with a UA 16+ rating and is all set to hit the theaters with a runtime of 2 hours and 44 minutes.
CBFC gives UA 16+ certificate
According to Hindustan Times, the certification of ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ was issued on June 20 after implementation of several amendments. The official synopsis describes the film as a chaotic comedy that revolves around a billionaire who creates an unusual scheme to fake financial losses by making a film designed to fail. To execute the plan, he assembles an unlikely team that includes a fading superstar and an inept director duo, setting the stage for a series of adventures.Directed by Ahmed Khan, the film serves as the third entry in the ‘Welcome’ franchise and promises a dazzling mix of humor, suspense and larger-than-life characters. The project is produced by Feroz Nadiadwala, Rakesh Dang and Vedant Vikas Bali.
Dialogues have been changed before release
Several lines of the film were reportedly edited before certification. A dialogue, “Kala pada hua hai…koila hai,” is replaced by “Sadah pada hua…namuna hua hai”. Another line, “Yas karo qurbani muh me bhar lo pani,” is changed to “Suno sunta hun kahani, jo shaheed honey ja raha tha, uske muh minye bharlo paan.”Additional changes include changes to phrases like “Desh ki Tatti” and “Ezzat Le Lo”. Some words and references have also been either changed or deleted entirely. According to the certification details, the word “Screwed” was removed from the subtitle, while the word “Azaaruddin” was replaced with “Alauddin”.The board also reportedly changed “blind” to “dheela”, while references to the “Gorkha regiment” were replaced with the more general question, “Tum Sena se ho?” Similarly, the word “general” was replaced with “officer” or “sir” in the relevant scene.
Kashmir reference and visual edit
Among the more notable changes were the removal of references such as “Na Diya” and “Kashmir Panni”. The CBFC has also ordered changes to several visuals classified as “sensual”.According to the report’s edit list, bikini shots, close-up visuals of women’s buttocks, and some dance movement scenes were either trimmed or removed. The cumulative duration of this visual erasure is said to be about 10 seconds.
