Pune: Highlighting the importance of yoga for physical and mental health, Dr. Rahul Vishwanath Karad, Executive Chancellor, MIT University for World Peace, said yoga is India’s greatest gift to the world and should be a part of everyone’s daily routine.He was speaking at the university’s 12th anniversary celebrations international yoga dayheld on campus on Sunday. The theme of this year’s commemoration is “Yoga for Healthy Aging”.Dr. Callard told students, faculty and staff that yoga can help people live a balanced, stress-free life. “Yoga is India’s most valuable gift of physical and mental health to the world. Everyone should adopt yoga in their daily life,” he said.The program includes yoga training and demonstration sessions led by yoga expert Anup Murali, who guides participants through various exercises and explains their health benefits. This event was organized under the guidance and blessings of Professor Vishwanath D Karad, founder and president of MIT-WPU.Dr. Kalard said the university has included yoga in its student development programmes. “Students of this university are undergoing yoga training. As a result, they are developing both physically and mentally. MIT-HIP is a unique university that provides structured yoga training to its students,” he said.Principal Dr RM Chitnis addressed the meeting and emphasized the wider significance of yoga beyond physical health. “Yoga is important to humanity because it promotes unity and reflects the true meaning of human values. It is one of nature’s greatest gifts to humanity,” he said.Those present included Chief Administrative Officers Dr. Prasad Khandekar and Dr. Pallavi Kavhane. Students, faculty and non-teaching staff actively participate in yoga classes and are committed to incorporating yoga into their daily lives to improve health and well-being.
