Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have reportedly ‘not yet responded’ to an offer from King Charles III regarding accommodation for their upcoming visit to the UK. According to reports, the couple are expected to return to Britain in July for the first time in four years, bringing their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, for a “year to go” ceremony marking the countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham.According to GB News, the return trip was complicated by significant logistical and security concerns. Prince Harry lost his automatic right to 24-hour armed police protection after he and Meghan stepped down from official royal duties in 2020. He subsequently challenged this decision, arguing that the British Home Office had acted illegally, but was ultimately unsuccessful.
Security questions that almost prevented the trip
The security issue became so significant that Harry expressed serious objections to the possibility of returning to Britain with his family. Speaking to the BBC after the court loss, the Duke of Sussex bluntly said, “I can’t see a world where I would bring my wife and children back to the UK at this point.”
Several royal residences have been proposed
King Charles III has reportedly extended an offer of a royal residence to Harry and Meghan. A number of prominent royal properties have been considered as possible destinations for their visit. Buckingham Palace, St James’s Palace, Windsor Castle and Frogmore Cottage are all said to have been discussed as possibilities before the couple’s former residence moves to California in 2020.However, according to the Daily Mail, Harry and Meghan have yet to officially respond to the proposal.

The couple have reportedly been tipped to potentially stay at Althorp House, the ancestral home of the Spencer family and the childhood home of Diana, Princess of Wales. The property holds deep personal significance for Harry as it serves as his late mother’s resting place. Geographically, the estate’s location, about an hour’s drive from Birmingham, made it a logical choice given Harry’s primary reason for moving to Britain.
