Akshay Kumar Nana Patekar and Anil Kapoor May return if Welcome 4 becomes a reality. The actor shared that the franchise has always felt like one big family and suggested that fans will see all the familiar faces together again in the future.The actor made these comments while discussing ‘Welcome to the Jungle’, the third installment of the popular comedy franchise. While the latest film marks the return of Akshay to the series, Nana Patekar and Anil Kapoor, who played the iconic roles marriage Sethi and Majnu Bhai are absent from this chapter.
Akshay Kumar hinted at a reunion
Talking to PTI about the future of the franchise, Akshay said that every member of the Welcome family continues to share a close bond. He also hinted that another sequel could reunite the original cast. He said, “Welcome is a complete family. This is Nana, Mr. Anil, me and all the people. It’s like family. If Welcome 4 ever gets made, you’ll find them all.”
Why are Nana Patekar and Anil Kapoor missing?
The original ‘Welcome’ featured Nana Patekar as Uday Shetty and Anil Kapoor as Majnu Bhai. Their performance became hugely popular and established the duo as two of Bollywood’s most memorable comedy characters. When Nana and Anil returned for ‘Welcome Back’ in 2015, Akshay Kumar was not a part of the sequel. With ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ the situation is reversed. Akshay returns to headline the franchise, while Nana and Anil sit in on this installment. Instead, the film introduces two new characters attached to iconic gangsters. Sunil Shetty The Yeda appears as Anna, when Arshad Warsi Plays the role of Romeo. The two are introduced as brothers of Uday Shetty and Majnu Bhai, expanding the comic universe of the franchise.director Ahmed Khan Also talked about the absence of Nana Patekar and Anil Kapoor. He revealed on the same portal that both the actors supported throughout the production and regularly checked the film’s progress. Sharing one such interaction, Ahmed said, “We used to talk all the time. We used to call during the shoot. Nana called and asked, ‘How’s it going? When will you show me the film? Tell Akshay that I’m not available.’‘ They keep calling and they talk. Anil sir called and said, how is it going? And next time we’ll plan something,'”‘Welcome to the Jungle’, which hits the screens today, boasts one of the biggest ensemble casts of recent Bollywood comedies. Along with Akshay Kumar, the film also stars Paresh Rawal, Sunil Shetty, Arshad Warsi, Disha PataniLara Dutta, Raveena Tandon and several other popular actors. Initial Twitter reactions largely described the film as an entertaining comedy entertainer.
