From films like ‘Hum Tum’ to more diverse roles like starring in ‘Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior’, the actor has covered almost every genre in his portfolio and is well known for his acting prowess on the big screen. During one of his recent interviews, the artist got candid about his life as an actor, the philosophies he follows to succeed in life and even looked back at some of the most iconic films of Indian cinema.

During a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter India, the actor shared how life-changing film ‘Dil Chahta Hai’ was for him.He shared with Farhan Akhtar that the film explored many new ideas in filmmaking, including voice acting. Experiencing it for the first time, it was a life-changing moment for him. The ‘Hawaiiwan’ actor added, “We were used to dubbing [Akhtar] How Nakul asked me to kiss [sound designer] Sound was treated and how it was traveling in those headphones. It was an incredible experience.”Later, he also revealed another part of the film that he found extremely interesting, which was when during the shoot, there was a pin-drop silence in the studio. “There was so much silence for the first time because of this incredible lockup,” he says. “Some of our movie sets are so crowded that pin-drop silence is rare. But this film had it.” The actor also shared that 25 years ago, he was naïve film industry That he missed a lot. “There was a new attitude to everything. For filmmaking and life”, the actor further commented.About ‘Omkara’, Khan shared, “There was a very creative atmosphere on the sets of Omkara. Huge [Bhardwaj] It was amazing and it was really liberating and exciting to be able to speak a new language in a new way and dress up as someone else.” Inspired by Shakespeare’s ‘Othello’, Saif Ali Khan played the main antagonist Ishwar ‘Langda’ Tyagi.The star says that ‘Omkar’ gave him an opportunity to explore new sides of himself which was a completely new and terrifying experience which he absolutely loved then. Recalling his time on set, he added, “I got to create something that we never get in other pretty fun rom-com type movies.”There is one particularly mirror-faced monologue that his character delivers in the film. While talking about the same, she revealed that director Vishal, at the time, asked her if she could do the scene without the costume. Recalling the memory, she laughed and added, “I remember Vishal ji asking, ‘Would you mind doing it naked?'” which then prompted him to respond by saying, “‘Listen, if you order me naked, I’ll do it!'”

During his interview, the actor also revealed that being one of your audience is one of the most important aspects of surviving in the industry. He shared that the people you are making movies for need to like you so that you can survive in the film industry. The actor also mentioned, “You only survive if the audience likes you. That’s it. I don’t know about great acting and stuff; there has to be a good feeling that you give them so that they don’t mind watching you again even after a bad movie.” And that’s what you really need.” He shared in another part of the interview that, “People are more excited or interested to see something that is, you know, made with a lot of passion and is a little bit different and there’s something out there.”Talking about cinema and the kind of projects he wants to do now, he said that he has seen Ranveer Singh’s ‘Dhurandhar’ a time before in cinema and after that added, “So it depends on us whether we catch up or not and wake up.”Further, he added that one of the main areas he wants to work on more is music, praising ‘Dhurandhar’ for its more innovative choices. He added, “Rather than making a new album for every film, it seems like an obvious idea to make amazing music, to kind of draw on all kinds of things from around the world, not too afraid of English as a foreigner.”Saif Ali Khan will be seen in his brand new film ‘Highwan’, which is slated to release on September 11.
