The latest ICC ODI batsmen’s rankings saw a significant reshuffle at the top, with the Indian captain Shubman Gill moving up to the number 2 spot and overtaking his teammate Virat Kohliwhich dropped to third place. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma still holds the fourth position after another successful ODI series.Gill’s rise up the rankings comes on the back of a scintillating performance in the recently concluded three-match ODI series in India against Afghanistan. The right-hander remained in excellent form throughout the series and played a key role in India’s dominant 3-0 clean sheet. He scored 84 in the first ODI before scoring a magnificent 154 in the second match. His performances earned him the player of the series award and helped him climb three places in the rankings.Kohli, on the other hand, dropped one position despite still being among the most successful ODI batsmen in world cricket. The former India captain held the No.2 spot for a long time, but his absence from the Afghanistan series was due to a right hamstring injury sustained during the IPL 2026 final between RCB and GT. His absence allowed Gill to move ahead of him. However, Kohli is set to return for the three-match ODI series against England in July, where he will look to regain the position by competing alongside Shubman Gill. Rohit Sharma, who is currently ranked fourth, will also look to climb higher in the rankings. Rohit scored 143 runs in the Afghanistan series at a strike rate of over 115, including fluent knocks of 48 and 79 in the last two matches. While Daryl Mitchell continues to rule the top spot in the ODI rankings with 815 points, Afghanistan’s Ibrahim Zadran’s position has slipped after a disappointing performance against India.India vs England ODI Match Schedule:
