According to The Sun, Charles is expected to fund security arrangements for the visit and the monarch is said to have offered Sussex accommodation at a royal estate during their stay. However, Dampier argues that these gestures do not signal a major shift in Sussex’s relationship with the institution they left behind.Dampier wrote, “Harry seems to have been reassured of safety, at least for the time being”. “However, this does not mean that he will regain his royal status and receive full-time protection in the long run.” Dampier believes any future protection measures are more likely to be considered on a case-by-case basis rather than signaling a permanent restoration of protection.
Important question of public reception
One of the biggest uncertainties surrounding the tour is how the British public will react to the couple’s return. While sources close to Meghan suggest she believes most people in Britain are fair-minded, Dampier warned that many Britons are deeply critical of the pair.“I saw a quote from a source close to Meghan that she believes most people in the UK are fair and reasonable,” Dampier noted. “They are, but not many will forgive him for his role in taking Harry and disrespecting the royal family.” He went further in his predictions, suggesting that the couple might face an uncomfortable reception in certain settings. “Harry and Meghan are taking a big risk because it’s very possible that some people will boo them,” he wrote.
Invictus Games and a possible warm welcome
Despite concerns about the wider public reception, Dampier believes the Sussexes will receive a warm reception at events linked to Harry’s beloved Invictus Games. “They are in a safe place at Invictus Games events because the servicemen and their families involved have a lot of time for them,” he wrote. “But some members of the public don’t, and we’ll see what happens.”The sports competition for wounded, injured and ill service personnel and veterans will be held in Birmingham from July 10 to July 17, 2027, with the upcoming One Year to Go event serving as an important milestone.

Dampier argued that the tour represented an important test of what the future relationship between Sussex and Britain might look like. “Only time will tell, but this trip will test the waters, certainly in a year the Invictus Games themselves,” he wrote. He also suggested that Harry could gradually achieve the “half in and half out” arrangement he originally wanted when stepping down from royal duties, which the late Queen Elizabeth II opposed.
