Hyundai Motor India today announced the launch of the Hyundai Creta under its BaaS (Battery-As-A-Service) programme. This brings down the starting price of the EV SUV to Rs 10.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Under the battery-as-a-service model, rental costs start at Rs 3.9 per kilometer, helping to reduce initial purchase costs. For buyers who prefer full ownership, the Creta Electric is available at a starting price of Rs 18.03 lakh (ex-showroom).Along with announcing the BaaS structure, Hyundai also added an integrated side step on select trims aimed at improving ease of access. The EV also comes with a 7.4kW AC wall charger. Previously, buyers of higher-end variants were offered an 11kW AC wall charger. Regardless of the variant chosen, every Creta Electric continues to be equipped with an on-board charging system as standard.

The Creta Electric is offered in seven variants and two battery options – 42 kWh and 51.4 kWh. The 42kWh battery pack has a claimed range of 420km, while the larger 51.4kWh unit has a claimed range of 510km. The battery pack is paired with a single electric motor that produces 135 horsepower with the smaller 51.4 kWh battery pack and 171 horsepower with the larger 51.4 kWh battery pack. Using a DC fast charger, the EV can charge from 10% to 80% in 58 minutes. The long-range variant can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds. It also gets three modes – Eco, Normal and Sport. In terms of specification, the Creta EV gets dual 10.25-inch screens – one for the infotainment system and one for the instrument cluster, and will also get a new steering wheel as seen on the Kona sold overseas. Other features include a panoramic sunroof, ventilated and electric seats, automatic climate control, charging from vehicle (V2L) technology, 360-degree camera, digital key and ADAS suite. The Creta EV also comes with Level 2 ADAS, offering features like lane keep assist, Forward Collision Warning, Blind Spot Collision Warning and Smart Cruise Control with stop and go function.
