Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and actor Vijay is all set for the final leg of his cinematic journey and hence, ‘Jana Nayagan’ is one of the most awaited Tamil releases of the year. The film was directed by H. Vinoth who has not been able to deliver a highly satisfying film since the release of Karthi’s ‘Theran Adhigaram Ondru’. By ‘John Noygan’, H. Binoth is expected to mark his comeback. Here’s a closer look at the main cast and the characters they portray.
Vijay, Pooja Hegde and Bobby Deol lead the film
Vijay Thalapathy plays Vetri Kondon (Vetri), IPS, an upright police officer whose journey forms the emotional and action-packed core of the story. The character is expected to have some similarities with Baliya’s character in ‘Bhagwant Kesari’. Pooja Hegde plays Kayal, reuniting with Vijay after ‘Beast’. Bollywood actor Bobby Deol plays the primary antagonist of the film. His character is known as John Himmler, Amrish Pujari and Phoenix. Bobby’s previous Tamil film was ‘Kangua’.
Mamita Baiju and Gautham Vasudev Menon played the lead roles
One of the most talked about additions to the film is Malayalam actress Mamita Baiju, who plays the role of Vijayalakshmi “Viji” Srikanth. “I always wanted to act in Vijay’s film, but now it’s definitely not going to happen. When I was cast in Superstar’s film, the first thought that came to my mind was, ‘Oh, now I can’t act in Vijay’s film.’Director-actor Gautham Vasudev Menon appears as Srikanth, Viji’s father and a jailer. Apart from the lead cast, ‘Jaana Nayagan’ has an experienced supporting cast, including Prakash Raj, Priyamani, Narain, Nassar, Revathi, Sunil, Reba Monica John, and Nijhalgal Ravi. Reports also suggest that the film may include special appearances by composer Anirudh Ravichander as well as filmmakers Atlee, Lokesh Kanaraj and Nelson. However, these cameo appearances are yet to be officially confirmed by the makers. The film is backed by a skilled technical crew led by composer Anirudh Ravichander, who is handling both the songs and the background score. Cinematography is directed by Sathyan Saurian. Mounted on a reported budget of Rs 300 crore to Rs 500 crore, ‘John Naigaan’ is among the biggest productions of Vijay’s career. Meanwhile, Vijay’s previous film was ‘GOAT’.
