Vaibhav Sooryavanshi once again showed why he is regarded as one of India’s brightest young talents as he smashed a blistering 94 off just 29 balls against Sri Lanka A in the final of the Tri-Nation Series. The 15-year-old scored an incredible 324.14, hitting 10 fours and 8 sixes before falling 6 runs short of a century. Although this innings ranks among the most devastating ever played for India A in the 50-over format, it was not the fastest knock of his young career. The 15-year-old rookie launched a stunning assault on the Sri Lankan bowlers after Sri Lanka A elected to bat first, racing to his half-century in just 11 deliveries, conjuring up a stunning run of 4, 4, 4, 6, 6, 0, 6, 4, 4, 6, 6 off his first 11 deliveries. In doing so, Sooryavanshi broke the previous world record of 12-ball fifty, set by Sri Lanka’s Kaushalya Weeraratne in 2005. But this was only his second best innings in terms of strike rate. The best came in November 2025 when, aged just 14 years and 232 days, the left-handed opener rewrote the record books with a blistering 144 off 42 balls against UAE in the Asia Cup Rising Stars tournament. In that T20 match, he smashed 11 fours and 15 sixes, achieving an incredible strike rate of 342.86. He reached his century in just 32 balls, making it the joint third fastest T20 century by an Indian batsman with Rishabh Pant hitting a 32-ball hundred for Delhi in the SMAT. Sooryavanshi powered India A to a monumental 297/4 in his 20 overs and was instrumental in guiding the side to a convincing 148-run win. Although Vaibhav Sooyavanshi’s highest score for the Indian team came in the U19 final match against England in 2026, Vaibhav dismantled England’s bowling attack with 15 fours and 15 sixes and scored 175 runs off just 80 balls at a strike rate of 218.75 to lead India to a record 411/9 in the final.
