After making his mark as a composer across Tamil and Telugu cinema, GV Prakash Kumar is now all set to score his first major Hindi film ‘Nayi Naveli’, a project backed by Anand L Rai’s production house and directed by Balaji Mohan. GV Prakash Kumar On ‘Noy Naveli’: ‘My song is in safe hands’
Speaking to Variety India about directing his first full Hindi score for ‘Nayi Naveli’, Prakash Kumar traces his journey into Hindi cinema and shares his excitement about the project. He said, “I got a chance to work in ‘Gangs of Wasseypur’ because Anurag Kashyap was a very good friend of mine. But it was not a full-fledged Hindi debut for me. I am composing all songs for ‘Noy Naveli’ under Anand L Rai’s banner. It will be very interesting. I am sure the songs will be beautiful. Yami Gautam is playing the lead role. We all know how beautifully she emotes. So, my music is in safe hands. ‘Nay Naveli’, directed by Balaji Mohan, will be something to look forward to.”
GV Prakash Kumar on composing in Hindi: ‘Language doesn’t matter’
When asked if composing music for a Hindi film feels different than working on a Tamil or Telugu project, Prakash Kumar is quick to dismiss the notion of any difference. He said, “It’s no different for me from a Telugu or Tamil film. Every score is a challenge for me. The language doesn’t matter. I compose every score as if it were my first.”
