Mercedes-Benz India has launched the 2026 S-Class, introducing the S 450e plug-in hybrid (PHEV) as the newest variant of the flagship luxury sedan. Orders for the new Mercedes-Benz S 450e opened today, with customer deliveries scheduled to begin in the fourth quarter of 2026. The S 450e Launch Edition is priced at Rs 2.20 lakh ex-showroom, while the more exclusive MANUFACTURER Edition starts at Rs 2.38 lakh ex-showroom. 2026 Mercedes-Benz S-Class: Basic details

Visually updated S-Class gets subtle changes. The front fascia now features new headlamps with two three-pointed star LED signatures. The lighting technology is said to be capable of projecting light up to 600 meters ahead. Mercedes-Benz also enlarged the illuminated grille by about 20 percent.The updated S-Class gets a redesigned front end with a larger illuminated grille, and the rear gets updated taillights that carry a similar star-inspired design. Reworked bumper details and new alloy wheel designs complete the exterior updates.

Inside, the S-Class features Mercedes-Benz’s latest MB.OS operating system. The luxury sedan is equipped with MBUX Superscreen, the latest generation of MBUX infotainment system, AI-powered “Hey Mercedes” voice assistant and Google Maps-based navigation. It comes standard with AIRMATIC air suspension and rear axle steering. The latter is offered with a standard 4.5 degree setup and can be raised up to 10 degrees, which significantly reduces the turning circle.

2026 Mercedes-Benz S-Class: Powertrain

At the heart of the new S 450e is a 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder turbo-petrol engine paired with an electric motor. The transmission is controlled by a 9-speed automatic transmission. The petrol engine alone produces 326 hp and 540 Nm, while the electric motor produces 163 hp and 440 Nm. Together, the system produces 435 horsepower and 680 Nm of output.One of the biggest advantages of the new S-Class is its ability to travel up to 115 km in pure electric mode on the WLTP cycle. Mercedes-Benz claims this makes it possible to complete most daily city commutes without using the combustion engine. The luxury sedan is equipped with a 22 kWh battery and supports up to 60 kWh DC fast charging. The company also claims a WLTP certified combined fuel efficiency of 32.33 kmpl.The S 450e accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 5.7 seconds and has a top speed of 250 km/h.
