Alphonse Puthren came to him at the age of 20

At that time, Jason was still pursuing his studies and had not decided to enter the film industry professionally.According to Jason, the filmmaker planned a coming-of-age story and contacted him after seeing one of his photos. Although the offer came from a director he greatly admired, Jason felt he was not ready to accept it.He explained that he politely declined the opportunity without hearing the description. Jason said he did not want to hear the full story and later turned down the project, as he held Alphonse Puthren in high regard. Instead, he encouraged the team to find someone better suited for the role.Despite declining the offer, Jason describes the experience as one of the proudest and most memorable moments of his life.

Vijay had earlier spoken about his son’s career choice

Earlier Vijay had shared about his son’s future during the promotions of ‘Beast’ in 2022. The ‘John Noygan’ actor made it clear that the decision will always lie with Jason.Vijay said, “I really don’t know what’s on his mind. I have no wish, it’s all his interest. If he wants my support, he’ll get it.”He added, “Someone has asked if he will act. Still I will tell him the story and ask him to call. But, he said he needs two years. Meanwhile Premam-director Alphonse Puthren came to tell a story and I thought it was for me but he told me it was for my son. It’s a good, boy-next-door story. But I personally thought the story would be good and if I liked the story, he would like it. When I told him, he still said he wanted more time. Only he knows whether he will be in front of the camera or behind it. I will be happy with whatever he accepts.”Jason is now set to make his debut as a filmmaker with ‘Sigma’, which stars Sundeep Kishan in the lead role.
