Kunal Kemmu shares that he is parenting by instinct, not public opinion

Kunal Khemu, who has been married to Soha Ali Khan since January 2015, says the couple has never let outside voices influence how they have raised Inaya, who turns nine this year. “We were very natural. Fortunately, I have a friend, a partner and a wife who now understand that I am a natural person and so is he,” Kunal told IANS. As far as parenting is concerned, we now have little experience. This year she (Inaya) will be nine years old. But we instinctively did everything we thought was right.”

Kunal Kemmu is not seeking validation from society

The actor admits that their parenting choices don’t always meet with universal approval, and they’re perfectly fine with that. He said, “It has been a journey that people have loved. But we have never thought about what people will think and who will like it or not. Some people have been upset by this journey, some people have not liked some things. But that’s okay, because I think it’s up to you how you live your life.Kunal also emphasized that neither he nor Soha tries to project an image of ideal parenting for public approval. He added, “We’ve never done anything like, ‘Let’s do this because it’ll look better,’ or that people will socially think we’re doing the right thing or the wrong thing.” As a parent, he does what he thinks is right. I do what I think is right.”

Kunal Khemu talks about disagreements

Like any couple, Kunal and Sohar have their parents’ differences, though he describes them with characteristic humor. She quipped, “Sometimes there are things I say don’t need to be done, but as a parent it’s her right to do it. Similarly, there are many things where she tells me the habits I’m breaking don’t look good. She’ll say don’t give her ice cream now, but I feed her when I think it’s the right time.”

Kunal Khemmu opens up about celebrating two faiths under one roof

Soha Ali Khan hails from a Muslim background, while Kunal hails from a Hindu family. Instead of letting it become a point of complication, the couple turned it into one of Inaya’s best gifts. From Eid and Christmas to Diwali and Mahashivratri, the family celebrates every festival with equal warmth and enthusiasm, so that their daughter grows up embracing the richness of both traditions.
