NEW DELHI:: In another rebuke to Vinesh PhogatThe Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) has rejected her request to enter her name for three upcoming international tournaments, including the Hungarian Ranking Series in Budapest. The federation cited the period of her suspension and the unsatisfactory response to the show-cause notice as reasons for the rejection.Vinesh was looking to enter the Grand Prix of Spain and the Polyak Imre, Varga Janos and Kozma Istvan Memorial Rankings in Budapest, scheduled for next month, and the Poland Open in Warsaw in August as part of her comeback plans after failing to qualify for Aichi-Nagoya Asian games.WFI sources said the federation was not sending teams to the Spain and Poland events while the entries for the Hungarian meet had already been finalized before Vinesh ended her ineligibility period on June 26 – the last date for sending entries for the Hungarian meet was June 15.The federation also argued that her suspension remains in effect pending disciplinary proceedings and a court hearing.Sources further pointed out that Vinesh is not part of the national camp, has not competed in domestic competitions and has no national rank. Only wrestlers for the Asian Games and wrestlers no. 2 and 3 in the men’s and women’s weight categories were taken into account for the event in Hungary, where India had already fulfilled its quota in the 53kg category – the category in which Vinesh usually competes.
