Over the past few years, Sonakshi has consciously gravitated towards characters with greater emotional depth. Be it playing a fearless police officer in ‘Dahad’, a courtesan in ‘Heramandi’, or a lawyer in Ashwini Iyer Tiwari’s ‘System’, the actor believes that his choices now reflect his own development.In an interview with HT City, when asked if the shift towards strong female-led stories was intentional or not, Sonakshi replied, “One hundred percent. I think it’s just getting better and better with every project I choose because it’s just blossoming now that gives me happiness and satisfaction as an actor. I have a lot of caring projects and their journeys throughout. Don’t regret anything.
Sonakshi says she no longer feels the pressure to continue working
The actor explained that his approach to work has changed significantly over the years. Instead of signing projects just to keep busy, he now waits for stories that truly resonate with him. If those opportunities don’t come immediately, he’s comfortable taking a step back and enjoying his personal life.Sharing her perspective, Sonakshi said, “I’m at a point in my life where I’m just doing it for myself, just doing what makes me happy. Otherwise, I have a very full life to live. If I don’t get the kind of work I want to do, I’m very happy in my own life and in my own little bubble.”

During the promotions of ‘System’, director Ashwini Iyer Tiwari compared Sonakshi to Hollywood legends Meryl Streep and Kate Winslet, a compliment that left the actor delighted and humbled.Recalling his reaction, Sonakshi said, “I called him and said, ‘You are putting so much pressure on me!’ But obviously, it feels amazing when your managers think about it. Especially when you’re not trying to be anyone, yet you’re compared to someone you really like and admire. Both these actresses are amazing. I am happy that my director called me.”

Away from work, Sonakshi revealed that the scorching weather changed her outfit completely. Once known for favoring dark shades, she now prefers breathable fabrics and light colors to beat the heat.Talking about her style choices, she said, “Linen, cotton shirts, loose dresses. I think this summer season especially, it’s a necessity. It’s a necessity more than anything else. Even my color choice has changed due to this kind of heat and weather. I used to wear black all the time. Now I’m leaning towards pastels, and the blues and whites are all coming out of my closet. I used to wear a lot of black, but I guess you can’t in this weather.
