Volkswagen Tyron Life launched at Rs 41.99 lakh: Five seats, specifications and more

Volkswagen India today finally launched the new entry-level Volkswagen Tayron Life SUV in the Indian market priced at Rs 41.99 lakh (ex-showroom). The new Tyron Life sits below the top-end R-Line trim and is priced around Rs 5 lakh lower, making it a more affordable alternative. The VW Tyron Life will be produced locally at the automaker’s Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar plant in Maharashtra. The SUV competes with Skoda Kodiaq and Jeep Meridian. Interested customers can book the SUV online or by visiting their nearest VW dealership; Deliveries are expected to begin soon.

The Tyron Life has a toned exterior compared to the R-Line. As it doesn’t get the sports styling package, components like the front grille, wheel arch cover and rear bumper trim are finished differently than the gloss black finish offered on the top-spec variant. The front fascia also gets a revised bumper design. It incorporates L-shaped grille inserts and a silver trim piece below the grille, giving the SUV a cleaner look. Despite these changes, the main lighting elements remain unchanged. The Life trim continues with subtle Matrix LED headlamps, a center-lit Volkswagen logo and a full-width LED light bar connecting the headlamps.In terms of dimensions, the Tyrone is 4792 mm long and has a wheelbase of 2789 mm. Although the design of the alloy wheels is different, the side profile remains largely the same as the R-Line. The Life variant rides on 18-inch alloy wheels, which are an inch smaller than those fitted to the flagship trim. The SUV continues to have a clean side profile with a clear shoulder line extending from the rear doors to the tailgate. Silver trim outlines the window area before extending to the rear quarter glass, while a chrome strip further adds to the side profile.Changes on the back are limited. The bumper adopts a simpler design, but the rest of the styling remains unchanged. The Life trim continues with LED taillights with detailed lighting elements, a full-width LED light bar, an illuminated Volkswagen badge and a roof-mounted spoiler.Moving inside, the Tyron Life retains almost the same cabin layout as the R-Line. The most noticeable differences are the absence of the R-Line badge and the removal of the third-row seats, making it a five-seater. Feature levels remain largely unchanged, despite being lower down the range. The SUV continues to offer a 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 10.25-inch fully digital instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, three-zone automatic climate control, front seats with ventilation and massage functions, dual wireless smartphone charging pads, a 360-degree camera, a nine-spoke system and a driving system. The Tyron Life is equipped with an eight-speaker sound system, while the R-Line is equipped with an 11-speaker Harman Kardon premium audio unit.Talking about the powertrain, it gets the same EA888 2.0, 4-cylinder turbo petrol engine that produces 204bhp and 320Nm. The engine is mated to a 7-speed DCT gearbox that sends power to all four wheels.
