The much-anticipated fourth installment of the ‘Spider-Man’ franchise – ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ – has had a record-breaking start at the box office just a day after advance ticket sales went on sale. That brings back the film Tom Holland Peter Parker in the next chapter of the Marvel superhero franchise hit a major milestone at the box office and scored the strongest first-day US presales for any film in the past five years.
‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ among the highest first-day presales
According to a report by Deadline, ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ has surpassed the first-day presale performance of several major recent superhero releases, including ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’, which debuted in 2022 with USD 187.4 million domestically.The film’s pre-sales are said to be the best since ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’, earning an estimated USD 78 million in presales before delivering a massive USD 260.1 million domestic opening weekend and grossing over USD 1.92 billion worldwide during its theatrical run.
‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ vs ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’
‘No Way Home’ also holds the record for the second-biggest opening weekend in North American box office history, trailing only ‘Avengers: Endgame’, which opened to an estimated USD 357.1 million. Meanwhile, the film’s worldwide opening totaled USD 600.5 million, making it the third-biggest global debut of all time behind ‘Avengers: Endgame’ which earned USD 1.22 billion and ‘Avengers: Infinity War’ earned USD 640.5 million.
There is no IMAX release for ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’
Notably, ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ managed to ring the cash registers despite not having access to an IMAX screen during its launch.
