Fresh off the blockbuster success of ‘Loka: Chapter 1 Chandra’, Kalyani Priyadarshan All set to debut in Bollywood with ‘Prolay’. The actress will reportedly be seen in an action-heavy role opposite Ranveer SinghTaking on intense stunt sequences instead of playing a conventional leading lady in an ambitious zombie thriller.
Kalyani Priyadarshan to do high-intensity action sequences
According to Variety India, Kalyani’s character in ‘Pralaya’ is designed to be an action-oriented role. Unlike the stereotypical “damsel in distress”, the actress will be seen doing elaborate fight scenes and high-risk stunts alongside Ranveer Singh. After enthralling the audience with her portrayal of Yakshi in ‘Loka: Adhyaya 1 Chandra’, Kalyani has reportedly won the confidence of the filmmakers, who are planning large-scale action sets for her in the upcoming film.To prepare for the physically demanding role, she will undergo special training under renowned international stunt coordinators and action experts like her co-star Ranveer Singh.
‘Pralaya’ makers plan a global action spec
The makers envision the film as one of India’s biggest cinematic spectacles, with the makers aiming to deliver action sequences that match the scale and intensity of major Hollywood productions. Sources suggest that Kalyani’s stunt choreography is designed to stand alongside some of the most memorable female-led action performances ever seen on the international stage. After an extensive pre-production phase, ‘Pralaya’ is expected to go on floors next month.Ranveer Singh will reportedly complete the first schedule before taking a paternity break around Diwali. The actor is then expected to return to the sets in 2027 to begin filming the second phase of the project. Backed by an estimated budget of around Rs 300 crore, ‘Prolay’ is being mounted as a large-scale VFX-driven zombie thriller set in a dystopian, post-apocalyptic world. Directed by Jai Mehta, the film is jointly produced Hansal MehtaIts True Story Films and Ranveer Singh’s mother Kasam Films.
The ‘Lokah’ franchise is expanding
Apart from her Bollywood debut, Kalyani Priyadarshan is also gearing up to return to the world of ‘Loka’. The actress recently confirmed that work on ‘Lok: Chapter 2’ is expected to begin in September. The sequel will focus on Chathan starring Tovino Thomas and will again be written and directed by Dominic Arun. Produced by Dulquer Salmaan, the ambitious five-part franchise draws inspiration from regional folklore, with the actor also playing an important role in the overarching narrative.
