President Draupadi Murmu confers their honors on the remaining Padma Award 2026 recipients during the Second Civil Investiture Ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on Tuesday, June 23. Honorable program was attended by Dr Prime Minister Narendra ModiVice President CP Radhakrishnan, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and several other distinguished guests.Among the distinguished awardees was Malayalam cinema icon Mammootty, who received the Padma Bhushan from the President. The veteran actor was joined at the event by his wife Salfath, son and actor Dulquer Salmaan and daughter Surumi, making it a proud family moment.Renowned playback singer Alka Yagnik has also been honored with the Padma Bhushan. The singer, who has been dealing with a hearing loss disorder in recent years, was escorted to the stage by an usher. He congratulated the Prime Minister before accepting the award Narendra Modiwho sat in the front row and touched his feet as a sign of respect.In the second ceremony, a total of 65 Padma awards were to be conferred in recognition of outstanding contributions in various fields.Notable recipients include Indian cricket captain Rohit Sharma and actor-filmmaker R Madhavan, who received the Padma Shri. Veteran actor Satish Shah was honored posthumously for his contribution to Indian cinema and television. Madhavan shared a moment with PM Modi before going on stage to receive his Padma Shri. The second ceremony followed the first civil investiture ceremony held on May 26, during which 66 Padma awards were conferred. One of the most emotional moments of that event was the posthumous awarding of the Padma Vibhushan to legendary actor Dharmendra, who passed away in November 2025. His wife, actor-politician Hema Malini accepted the honor on his behalf.The Padma Awards are among India’s highest civilian honours, celebrating exceptional achievement and service in a variety of fields, including art, literature, sports, public affairs, science and social work.
