A Short film That’s the first door to open
Basil made a short film ‘Priyamvadha Katharayano’ during this period and shared it online tagging the filmmaker. Vineeth Srinivasanwhom he deeply admired.Basil Joseph revealed in an interview with Sujit Bhaktan, the video did not go unnoticed by Vineeth at first. However, it finally reached the actor Ayu VargheseWho came across it while browsing Facebook. Impressed by the work, Aju responded positively. He said, “It’s great.” That small reaction became the first step in a chain of events that would later transform Basil’s career.

After watching the short film himself, Aju Varghese encouraged Vineeth Srinivasan to watch it. Vineeth later sees the project and appreciates Basil’s efforts. When Basil expressed interest in working as an assistant director, Vineeth reacted cautiously. He said, let’s see, right now I am not working on any new film. At the time, there was no immediate opportunity, but connections were made.
Eight months of waiting
Basil returned to his routine job, holding on to his filmmaking dream. Several months passed without any clear direction. Then, one normal day, he received a message on Facebook Messenger from Vineeth Srinivasan. It read, “Are you still interested in helping me?” Basil later described it as a defining moment in his life, calling it “the most life-changing message of my life”.

What followed was pure magic. A meeting in Chennai. Vineet arrived in three-quarters and an i20. Basil and his friends appeared in turbans with biryani and mutton brain fries from a beach. They talked about movies, dreams and possibilities. And just like that, since June, Vineeth said the words were waiting for Basil: “Join me.
