Talking about his journey as a devoted single father, the star kid emphasized that today’s parents are making a much more conscious effort to stay present and emotionally available than in previous eras. In a recent interview with Deccan Chronicle, he said that his biggest responsibility today begins after the cameras go off. Having spent more than two decades in the film industry, he believes his most meaningful role in life is that of a devoted and present father. The actor shared that success is no longer limited to achievements in cinema. Instead, she now measures it by watching her son grow into a confident and independent person. According to Tushar, parents should encourage children to follow their own interests while providing guidance. Talking about his son, the actor revealed that football occupies a special place in his life. “He is a football fan. He plays almost every day, mostly as a defender. But despite that, he scores a lot of goals. Football is his biggest passion,” said Tushar.Tushar says she is happy that her son naturally enjoys outdoor activities and loves spending time in the fields. She believes sports have become an important part of her child’s daily routine and overall development. The actor explained that whether the training takes place indoors or outdoors, his son enjoys being active and participating in various sports activities. “He loves being outside. He’s happiest on the field, whether it’s football practice or other sports. Of course, sometimes he plays indoors while training takes place in the facilities, but sports are a huge part of his life.”

Tusshar Kapoor on parenting across generations

Tushar said parenting has changed significantly over the years. He feels that today’s parents are more involved in their children’s lives than previous generations, while recognizing that each generation has its own strengths and challenges. “Every generation has its own strengths and weaknesses,” he said. “I feel some people in Gen Z are emotionally detached from relationships, though certainly not all. Gen Alpha children are raised by more involved parents. I believe that a parent’s hand is extremely important, and today’s parents are making a conscious effort to be more present in their children’s lives.”Recalling his childhood days, Tushar said, earlier children had the freedom to play outside but were rarely involved in important family decisions. “Our generation had the freedom to play outside, but we didn’t have much say in our choices. Parents decided where we would go on holidays, who our friends would be and so on,” she recalls.

Giving children the freedom to choose their own path

Tushar believes her own experiences shaped the way she raised her son. She said that living independently in the US helped her gain confidence and influenced her decision to act. “Being on my own gave me confidence, and when I came back, I decided I wanted to be an actor instead of just joining the family business,” he said. The actor added that he wants his son to explore his own interests without feeling pressured to follow in his footsteps. “He excels in academics and is equally good in sports. The only thing he is not interested in,” laughs Tushar. “He has hardly seen any of my pictures. The last one he watched was Bhoot Bangla, because it was a family film.”Even family movie time is at his son’s discretion. “He’d rather be watching movies with his friends, popcorn in hand. He likes his space, which I totally respect,” he shared.

Career, life lessons and moving forward

Tushar said she has learned to accept uncertainty and stay optimistic during difficult times. According to the actor, patience and perseverance have helped him navigate both life and career. “I realized that we are not completely in control of everything. You cannot predict life. The best approach is to stay positive, stay strong and move forward. Things unfold in their own time, and you have to trust the process,” she said. Sharing advice he hopes his son will always remember, Tushar added, “My biggest strength is to never give up. There will always be noise around you, good or bad, but you have to learn to filter it and take everything with a pinch of salt. Keep your own mind, focus and move forward.”On the work front, Tusshar Kapoor was last seen in the crime thriller Marrich, which released in theaters on December 9, 2022.
