More about the film and soundtrack
The film’s soundtrack was created by icons and singers, Este Haim, Amanda Yamate, as well as music supervisor Season Kent, who wanted to make the movie as expressive and romantic as possible with the music.During the conversation with Netflix, the three of them created the music list to go with the film and reflected on how the process felt for them. Yamate weighs in and shares that they are a good team, and have brought equal balance to the sound of the film with their own input. He added, “We listened to some of those classic rom-coms to see how they balanced the themes – it was so fun to have a modern take on it. Leah was so open to us being inspired by a lot of needle drops. I studied orchestral music. Est is a rock legend and would come in and play bass and synth. We were a good team.”Kent, speaking of taking inspiration from other romantic comedies, said, “We had several rom-com film scores in our heads when we were putting the film together and figuring out our tone and footing. But Amanda and Est had their own vision that we put into the film as quickly as possible.”Yamte also added that for the core of the film, he “tried to hit the heart and the tone of what it means to love your sister and possibly lose her.” Este has a sister. I have a sister.”
