LUCKNOW: One of the most captivating sights in cricket is to see a fast bowler run in, release the ball at high speed and push the batsman with his pace. That’s why Gurnoor Brar blew Indian cricket away. The 26-year-old was recently rewarded with six Afghanistan wickets in two ODIs in vastly different conditions – Dharamshala and Lucknow. More than the wicket, his ability to hit the deck hard consistently bowling over 140 kmph caught the eye.“I believe in myself and whatever I do, whether I’m bowling a hard length or a fast bowler. Results don’t matter. Preparation is important for me,” the Punjab pacer said after taking 3/60 in the second ODI here. Some Indian quicks in recent times have grabbed the limelight with bursts of speed in the IPL before fading into oblivion, but Brar seems to be breaking the mould. His IPLs have been sporadic and he is yet to get a game with Gujarat Titans despite spending two seasons with the franchise. However, he seems to have taken it well. “There’s Nehra sir, Rabada, Siraj bhai, Prasidh bhai and Ishant Sharma. I was there waiting for my chance. But at the same time, I watched where they went wrong and where they did well. For me, it was about how much more I can learn,” he said. The pacer believes that India’s ‘A’ line-up has acted as an important bridge between domestic and international cricket and added that Siraj has been a constant support. “The India ‘A’ set-up is obviously a big deal. I tried to replicate exactly the same thing I did in Ranji — fast bowling, hard hitting and swinging the ball — for India ‘A’. Siraj bhai was also with me,” Brar added.
