ANI reported that the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee, also known as the DSGMC, objected to the film’s ban and instead announced that they would soon organize public screenings and seminars of ‘Satluj’.DSGMC president Harmeet Singh Kalka issued a statement on the same, sharing that the film is about activist Jasbant Singh Khalra and his efforts to investigate and expose alleged human rights violations and illegal cremation in Punjab in 1995, and banning the film is not right.His statement added, “As the film is a biopic of Jaswant Singh Khalra, it depicts how a social worker opened people’s eyes to the truth. He uncovered evidence of 25,000 bodies that were cremated as ‘illegal’ and raised the issue not only within the country but also internationally, darkening the events in Punjab, preventing these events from the public. from reaching, is deeply wrong, and it has sparked widespread outrage across the Sikh community.“He also confirmed that the committee will organize screenings of the film and also hold seminars in various educational institutions to explain Khalra’s life in more detail. He added, “We have asked all Gurdwara committee members to download and screen the film in their respective areas so that it reaches the masses. Further, we will soon convene a meeting with the chairpersons of our schools and colleges. Seminars will be organized in each college to discuss the life and legacy of Jaswant Singh Khalra. We want people to realize the impact a single social worker can have on society. If one person can achieve so much, there’s no reason we can’t all do the same together.”
