Karl Urban plays Johnny Cage, a Hollywood actor and fighter who joins the franchise in the sequel. Also in the cast are Lewis Tan as Cole Young, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Mehcad Brooks as Jax, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Josh Lawson as Kano, Tadanobu Asano as Lord Raiden, and Adeline Rudolph as Kitana.Martin Ford appears as Shao Kahn, and Hiroyuki Sanada returns as Scorpion.
