‘Mortal Kombat II’ is now available to watch on OTT platforms after its theatrical run. The action fantasy sequel brings back and adds several fighters from the 2021 reboot. The sequel continues the story of the 2021 film, which introduces Lewis Tan as Cole Young, an MMA fighter drawn into a fight involving Earthrealm and Outworld. In the new chapter, the champions face a no-rules tournament as Shao Kahn seeks to destroy and take control of the Arthrium. The streaming giant describes the film as the next installment in the video game-based franchise. The story places Johnny Cage with the returning warriors as they join forces to stop Shao Kahn’s rule.The franchise centers on Mortal Kombat, a long-running martial arts competition that determines the fate of Earth. Outworld, a dangerous kingdom ruled by powerful enemies, wants to merge with Arthurium. Earth’s warriors must stop that plan through war.Warner Bros. has listed May 8, 2026 as the theatrical release date for ‘Mortal Kombat II’. The studio’s official page also confirms that the film is available digitally.

‘Mortal Kombat II’ Cast and Story Details

Karl Urban plays Johnny Cage, a Hollywood actor and fighter who joins the franchise in the sequel. Also in the cast are Lewis Tan as Cole Young, Jessica McNamee as Sonya Blade, Mehcad Brooks as Jax, Ludi Lin as Liu Kang, Josh Lawson as Kano, Tadanobu Asano as Lord Raiden, and Adeline Rudolph as Kitana.Martin Ford appears as Shao Kahn, and Hiroyuki Sanada returns as Scorpion. The film brings back familiar characters including Sub-Zero, Raiden, Sonya Blade, Jax and Liu Kang. The Free Press Journal reported that the sequel grossed 129 million worldwide against an 80 million production budget. It added that critics gave the film mixed reviews, although it received a stronger response than its 2021 release.Benjamin Walfisch composed the music for ‘Mortal Kombat II’. New Line Cinema produced the film along with Atomic Monster, Broken Road Productions and Fireside Films. Viewers can now find ‘Mortal Kombat II’ on Amazon Prime Video.
