The National Medical Commission has directed all affiliated medical schools and institutions to remain vigilant and take precautionary measures to ensure the fair conduct of the NEET-UG re-examination 2026, which is scheduled to be held on June 21. The National Education Commission issued an announcement on June 18 requiring strict compliance with the instructions of the Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education.The directive comes amid concerns over past incidents in which medical students were allegedly found involved in activities that could compromise the sanctity and integrity of the national medical entrance exam. The NMC has asked institutions to create awareness among students and discourage any action that may adversely affect the examination process.NMC issues compliance advisoryThe NMC, in its notification, attached the notification received from the Higher Education Ministry regarding the conduct of NEET-UG 2026 re-examination and directed all medical colleges and institutions to comply with the instructions issued by the ministry.The committee said it issued the advisory as a precautionary measure to safeguard the integrity of the exams. It stresses that institutions must remain vigilant and ensure students are aware of the consequences of engaging in any activity that could undermine the integrity of exams.Medical schools asked to remain vigilantReferring to previous incidents, the National Medical Council noted that certain medical students were allegedly involved in activities detrimental to the examination process. The committee did not elaborate on specific cases but stressed the need for university authorities to be more vigilant.Medical colleges have been directed to educate students about maintaining ethical conduct and stress the importance of maintaining the credibility of national entrance exams. The move is intended to act as a deterrent to any potential fraud related to the exams.Vacation restrictions June 20-21As part of the precautionary measures, the National Medical Center has advised all medical schools not to give students a holiday on June 20 and 21, unless there are exceptional circumstances supported by valid reasons.According to the committee, this restriction is intended to deter any possible misuse and support the smooth and transparent conduct of the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination. The directive has been communicated to deans and principals of medical colleges across the country, while copies have also been shared with medical education departments of all states and union territories for information and necessary action.The National Testing Agency (NTA) has scheduled the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination on June 21 amid heightened scrutiny on security and transparency of the exam.
