The strained relationship between Arya Babbar After a clip from Arya’s standup comedy set went viral online, her half-brother Pratik Smita Patil is back in the news.In the clip, Arya refers to her genitalia as her “chhot bhai” (little brother) while discussing depression. He then quipped, “And by little brother I don’t mean Pratik Babbar.”As the audience laughs, Arya immediately corrects herself and says, “Prateek Smita Patil,” elicited applause. He then added, “Ke ho raha hai Smita maa.”The actor later shared the video on social media with the caption, “No name changes were made in the making of this joke,” apparently referring to Pratik’s decision to adopt his late mother Smita Patil’s surname.
‘Understood he changed his name’
Clarifying the context behind the comment, Arya insisted that there was no intention to mock her brother.“I am talking about Chhota Bhai in terms of frustration, and right now I just said that Chhota Bhai does not mean Pratik Babbar. As soon as I said that, I realized that he has changed his name and he is quite sensitive about the fact that he does not want to be called Pratik Babbar. So, I have corrected myself,” he explained in an interview with Hindustan Times.He added, “The world knows that I don’t take Smita Mae’s name without adding ma, so I said it. For me, it was not a joke. I just told an incident, the audience found humor in it.”

When asked if she wants to mend fences with Pratik, Arya said she is open to dialogue.“O phone uttar kar le, mein baat kar lunga. Usne ye medium choice kya hai ki main apai family se sedhe na, media ke thru baat karunga, toh hamare paas vi koi option na bacha,” he said. Arya also questions the idea that her side of the family is often portrayed negatively.“What I don’t agree with is that Babbar Sahib’s first family cannot be villains. Why are you being victimized and we are being called villains. We are not telling you anything, we accept and respect you, so why are we villains?” she asked.
