Rajkumar Hirani Ready to launch his son Veer Hirani In Pritam and Pedro, which will stream on OTT. But like many star kids, Veer didn’t get roles because of his father’s name. Rajkumar confirmed that Veer auditioned like all the other actors and bagged the part on his own merit. Interestingly, Veer was the first to show interest in the role after watching the audition at home.

Interestingly, Veer was not the first choice for the role of ‘Pritam and Pedro’. Rajkumar revealed that the team spent considerable time searching for the right actor before Veer, who closely monitored the casting talks both at home and at the office, decided to throw his hat in the ring. But his father clarified that there will be no special treatment. Speaking to Hindustan Times, Hirani said, “I told him, ‘If you want to audition for it, do it. see Avinash Arun. Convince him because he is handling it. I can’t force myself. Even if it’s my film, you have to audition. Don’t think you get it because you’re my son.'”

Determined to prove himself, Veer threw himself into preparation, practicing scenes with a friend every night. He filmed several audition tapes, carefully reviewed and selected only the best before submitting them to the producers.

Rajkumar wears multiple hats in ‘Pritam and Pedro’, an upcoming cyber crime comedy-drama that he has produced, co-written and produced. The project is special for two reasons: it marks his first venture into the streaming space as a creator and it introduces his son Veer Hirani to the world as an actor.

Directed by Avinash Arun, the series brings together Veer’s character Pritam, a tech-savvy cyber expert and Arshad WarsiPedro, an old-school cop who finds himself unwittingly transferred to a cyber cell despite having little understanding of the digital world. A minister’s son teams up with an unlikely duo to investigate a kidnapping and goes up against a fearsome cybercriminal depicted Vikrant Massey. The show is set to premiere on JioHotstar on July 3.
