Nitish Kumar Reddy ruled out of T20Is against Ireland; unlikely for series in England

NEW DELHI: India all-rounder Nitish Kumar Reddy has been ruled out of the two-match T20I series against Ireland starting on June 26 in Belfast. It is learned that Reddy’s quadriceps injury, which kept him out of the 2nd ODI against Afghanistan in Lucknow, has worsened and requires attention before he takes the field again. At this stage, the exact time frame for his return is not known.Reddy was also picked for the ODIs and T20Is against England; it remains to be seen whether the injury will rule him out of that series as well. As things stand, he will not be traveling with the team to Ireland.The Indian team leaves in series for the Irish series. One group, which includes Sanju Samson, Axar Patel, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Abhishek Sharma, Morne Morkel and T Dilip, left Chennai today, while some players are scheduled to leave tomorrow from Mumbai.If the selectors name a replacement for Reddy, Suryansh Shedge is the prime candidate due to his impressive recent performances for India A in Sri Lanka.Reddy was also picked for the ODIs and T20Is against England; it is unlikely that he will appear in that series. He will not be traveling with the team to Ireland for the time being.The 23-year-old has played 10 Tests, 6 ODIs and 4 T20Is for India so far.
