Talking with Dr Bill Maher On the ‘Club Random’ podcast, Spacey looked back on the reported sexual assault incidents and how they derailed his career in Hollywood at the time. After a brief period when he wasn’t looking at any new projects due to controversy, Spacey says he appears to be coming out of that slump.“I feel much more welcome, and I think things are moving in the direction we hoped they would be moving,” he shared. As for the alleged assault case filed against him, the actor revealed that the court ruled in his favor on almost every count when they went before a jury. He added, “There are cases where something is true in part, but it’s been rethought, it’s been redesigned, or it’s been completely made up, certainly in the case of Anthony Rapp, which is a case that we won in federal court in New York.“
Kevin Spacey admits there were times when he crossed a line
Anthony Rapp’s allegation that the actor molested him when he was still a teenager is the first of many lawsuits to come forward. During the interview, when Maher asked him about the subject and how there were so many cases, Spacey admitted that there were times where he crossed a line. He added, “I never said there was no fire. It was not just a raging forest fire. It was a small kitchen fire that could have been put out with an extinguisher.“Additionally, he shared that he has “paid a lot” for his actions over the past 9 to 10 years. “When people actually start hearing the facts, realizing what we won in court, I think people look at it now and think, maybe nine years is enough”, he further explained.Over the years, as allegations surfaced, the actor faced a lot of backlash in the industry. This included being fired from two of his biggest projects, ‘House of Cards’ and ‘All the Money in the World’. He also lost other opportunities and even lost his home.
